7 Luxury EDPs That Make Fabulous Valentine’s Day Gifts

By Wendy Rose Gould for Modern Muse

Chocolate and flowers are always nice, but perfume is the perfect Valentine's Day gift that's calorie-free and won't wilt four days in. Whether she's drawn to juicy or powdery florals, or has a soft spot for sweet gourmands, sensual musks, or woody scents, check out this selection of scents to find an EDP (eau de parfum) that will definitely delight.

1. Bright, Sparkling Floral

For a sparkling, energetic floral, Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming ($130) from Nordstrom is the way to go. Bright and juicy berries meet a rosy, peony-spiked heart in this eau de parfum. At the base, white musk keeps the fragrance grounded, soft, and feminine. Bonus points: The bottle will also look pretty on her dresser.

2. Parisian Sophistication

Is your lady a little bit wild at heart? Ex Nihilo's Love Shot ($325), sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, was inspired by the essence of a true Parisian women — someone who's equal parts free-spirited and sophisticated. It marries fresh raspberries, sweet jasmine, and earthy bergamot with leathery musk, patchouli, and vanilla.

3. Sugary Bouquet

You can't go wrong with a cult favorite like Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb ($165), available at Nordstrom. One spritz and she'll be immersed in an ultra-feminine, sweet garden of freesia, Sambac jasmine, rose, and osmanthus. At the top, mandarin and bergamot infuse a touch of brightness while the woody, vanilla-praline base intensifies the sweetness.

4. Warm and Cozy Musk

Wearing Pinrose's Pillowtalk Poet ($65) will make her feel as if she's just stepped out of a petal-doused bathtub, dusted on a bit of amber-infused powder, and hopped into a still-warm, just-from-the-dryer comforter. The beguiling scent, available at Sephora, is light, sensual, and sort of feels like hygge in a bottle — perfect for Valentine snuggles.

5. Peppery, Sweet and Fruity

Inspired by that can't-catch-yourself, falling-in-love feeling, Tory Burch Love Relentlessly ($118) makes a lot of sense when it comes to Valentine's Day gifting. It cracks open with a burst of fiery pink pepper — a true fragrance metaphor for falling in love — and is paired with splashy, patchouli-soaked fruit, amber drizzle and a light dusting of sun-warmed rose petals. Pick it up at Macy's.

6. Dreamy, Delicate Floral

For many people, springtime lilacs conjure up memories from some of their sweetest years. Lilac Path ($120) from Sephora is a delicate, but rich floral, and Aerin — Estée Lauder's grand-daughter — has managed to bottle the scent of genuine, just-plucked lilac in a way that other perfumers have been unable to. Fresh jasmine, earthy and bright angelica, sweet honeysuckle and orange blossoms round out the olfactory bouquet.

7. Clean, Woody Floral

Atelier Cologne's Iris Rebelle ($150) just launched in January and is a Sephora exclusive. It's a fresh and woody fragrance that leans more sharp than powdery. As it dries down, it softens into a floral finish on the skin via iris and Tunisian orange blossom, which will make you want to lean into her even closer.
