How to Wear the Biggest Trends from New York Fashion Week Now

By Rebecca Carhart for Modern Muse

While the exact pieces seen on the catwalks at New York Fashion Week won't be available for a few more months, we spied a few trends that can easily be replicated, thanks to similar styles available in stores right now. Below, we break down the five biggest trends and reveal the look-a-like items you can shop now to stay ahead of the curve.

1. Statement Tights

Next season's hosiery styles are anything but basic. Top designers like Ulla Johnson want you to banish your classic black tights to the back of your closet in favor of colorful, glittery, and even embellished options. Bold hosiery is probably the easiest fall 2018 trend to start wearing now, as multiple stores are already carrying several options. We particularly love this pair by Charlotte Russe, which will keep you looking cool while staying warm.

2. Bold Animal Prints

While animal prints may be a perennial favorite, the options seen on the fall catwalks are wilder than ever. Brightly colored leopard and cheetah prints stole the show at multiple presentations. This head-to-toe neon animal-print look from R13 might be a little daring for some, but you can test out the vibe with a sleek bag, like this Zadig & Voltaire option from Bloomingdale's.

3. Deconstructed Suiting

Whether it was tailored trousers with slits up the front or deconstructed blazers, the working girl's wardrobe has been given a high-fashion upgrade for fall. If Jonathan Simkhai's off-the-shoulder jacket is too risqué to meet your office's dress-code requirements, opt for this Monse deconstructed jacket dress from Nordstrom for a more subtle approach.

4. Hot Pink Everything

Fall color palettes are usually full of dark or neutral tones, but top designers like Christian Siriano want you to make a statement in hot pink. Bold fuchsia accessories and clothing were regulars on the fall 2018 runways, with multiple shows featuring entire looks in the unexpected hue. Try it now with this showstopping hot pink Le Femme dress from Nordstrom.

5. Furry Cuffs

Fur accents are all the rage for fall after several designers sent fur-cuffed fashions down their runways. We can't wait to get our hands on this vintage-inspired coat by Brock Collection, but, in the meantime, plan to recreate the style with this Cinq à Sept jacket from Saks Fifth Ave. It will help keep you warm and toasty while adding a regal touch at the same time.
