Spring’s Hottest Swimsuits

SPRING 2018
By Rebecca Carhart for Modern Muse

After what seemed to be a never-ending winter, spring is finally upon us. Since warmer weather is on the horizon, now is the time to start updating your swimwear drawer. With so many options in stores already, it can be difficult figuring out which suits will still be cool by the end of the summer.

To help you cut through the clutter, we compiled a list of the five swim styles you need to shop this season. From belted one-pieces to crocheted bikinis, these are the swim trends worth buying into.

Belted One-Pieces

Belted maillots are set to be the biggest swim trend of the year after multiple designers added the waist-cinching accessory to their spring lines. Swimwear brand Solid & Striped has several belted options available but we are obsessed with their Nina Belted Swimsuit, which is sold at Neiman Marcus. The soft ribbed one-piece comes in multiple colors and features an adjustable belt around the waist to help you achieve a slimming hourglass figure.

Plunging Necklines

While one-pieces are meant to provide more coverage, this season's styles feature plunging necklines that show some serious skin. If you like the silhouette but don't want to look overly sexy at the beach, reach for this bathing suit from H&M. The seersucker print gives the suit a cute nautical vibe, while the ruffled neckline adds a fun, girly touch.

Retro Gingham

Gingham has been a major fashion trend for the past few seasons, so it's no surprise the pattern has finally trickled down to the swim market as well. The kitschy print will be particularly popular on retro silhouettes this season. Our favorite option has to be the demi underwire bikini top and matching high-waisted bottoms from J.Crew. The sculpted underwire top offers extra support and the sleek bottoms will look flattering on all shapes and sizes.

Crochet Bikini

If you want to add a bohemian touch to your beachside look, try a crochet bikini. The knitted swimsuits give off a sexy-yet-sweet vibe that's perfect for poolside lounging. We love this Suboo bikini set from Bloomingdale's because it will look just as good at the beach as it will at a music festival this summer.

Sporty Styles

If you want to look chic and stay active at the beach or pool this summer, reach for a flattering performance one-piece like this option from Target. The sporty silhouette is not only comfortable but will stay in place while you move around. It also features a front zipper that allows you to control how much skin shows, while the faux leather straps give the suit a high-fashion upgrade.
