Wearable Tech for the Gym Lover Who Loves Fashion

FALL 2017

Sure, you might work out to look good, but you also want to look good while you work out. Fortunately, now that technology is essential to our daily living, smartwatches and fitness trackers aren't the bulky, unattractive items they once were. Even brands outside the fitness realm are adding wearable tech to their accessory lines – some of which are so chic that they could pass for jewelry. We've rounded up the brands with some of the most stylish wearable tech that will help you sleep, breathe and exercise better.

Left: Nokia Go (available at Best Buy or Bed Bath & Beyond). Right: Nokia Activité Steel (available at Best Buy).

Primarily known for its phones, Nokia has stepped into the world of wellness with the intro of its blood pressure monitor, scale and fitness trackers. The cheerfully hued Nokia Go (above, left) tracks steps, distance, calories burned and your sleep patterns, while holding a charge of up to eight months. It's also water resistant and can be integrated with MyFitnessPal to help you keep up with your nutrition goals.

The Nokia Activité Steel (above, right) is all about sophistication. It's chic, yet it can still monitor all your activity – swimming included – and sleep patterns (it even has a vibrating alarm that gently nudges you from your slumber). The watch also has two faces to choose from and an interchangeable strap, so you can make sure it always matches your outfits.

Left: Fitbit Flex 2 Pendant. Right: Fitbit Flex 2 Bangle.

Fitbit has long been perfecting its wristwear, but up until recently it still just looked like a typical activity tracking device. So the brand got smart and created accessories that can appease the fussiest of fashionistas. The Fitbit Flex 2 – which monitors your movement and sleep and reminds you to walk when you have been stationary for too long – now has gold- and silver-toned pendants and bangles to camouflage the tracker itself. Available at Nordstrom.

For the super style-savvy, Fitbit also teamed up with fashion maven Tory Burch to create a hinged bracelet (above), available in silver, gold and iridescent, that you'll be tempted to wear even when you're not working out. Available at Nordstrom or Tory Burch.

Opting for a more classic look, the Gen 2 Smartwatch (above) was made in collaboration with adventurer and expedition photographer Cory Richards. It features interactive dials, tracks your steps, distance and calories, and has a 24-hour battery life that can be charged wirelessly. You can keep up with your texts, social media and phone calls from gentle vibrating alerts and customize the face to your personal preferences. Best of all? It also has Google Maps integration, so you'll never get lost on your morning jog. Available at Fossil or Macy's.

Under Armour Gemini 3

If you have no desire to strap on a watch or wear jewelry, there's another wearable option that's really inconspicuous. The Under Armour Gemini 3 (above) integrates its fitness tracker in its soles and has an accelerometer to record all of your running info via Bluetooth. You can also use it to do a jump test before your run to determine the intensity you should aim for. Available at Under Armour or DICK'S Sporting Goods
