If you're like most people around the holidays, you're bound to hit the mall for a bit of gift shopping at some point or another. This season, you can shop for a cause — and save 20% on all your qualifying purchases — with the Care Card Event, a fundraiser hosted by Arizona's Board of Visitors that runs October 20 through 29. Not only will you get your shopping done a little bit earlier while saving money, but you'll be making a difference in the community — all proceeds will benefit the Foundation for Blind Children.
The Foundation for Blind Children is one of the first places new parents turn to after learning that their child is blind. The organization helps children navigate the world and live to their future potential by inspiring them, challenging them, supporting them, and celebrating their progress. Nothing is viewed as impossible for these children, and as such they are able to grow up within a healthy support network and go to school, college, work, and beyond.
How It Works
Care Card costs $60 and can be purchased online or at one of 500+ participating retailers, many of which are located within Scottsdale Fashion Square. Numerous luxury stores — who rarely discount their merchandise — are participating in the event, as well, including Jimmy Choo, Bottega Veneta, Escada, CH Carolina Herrara, and Diane von Furstenberg.
By simply purchasing the card, you'll give a blind child their first "white cane," which helps them walk around and navigate their surroundings safely. In addition, when you present your Care Card to any of the participating retailers from October 20 to 29, you'll receive 20% off your entire purchase.
Because of the breadth of participating retailers, the Care Card can be used by people with all sorts of shopping preferences. Maybe you're a foodie and you want to dine for 10 days straight, or perhaps you're in the market for a piece of luxury jewelry for someone special, or want to buy a new outfit (or two) for holiday parties. And, of course, there's always your holiday shopping list. But most importantly, you'll be making a meaningful, palpable difference in the community.
We recommend hitting Scottsdale Fashion Square and making a day (or weekend!) of it complete with shopping spree and food.
