As the sun was setting on the nearby Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica, California, the Modern Muse Meetup was heating up inside Bloomingdale's Style Bar on October 25.
Hosted by Santa Monica Place, Bloomingdale's and POPSUGAR, the evening's theme was "Meeting of the Minds" and included tipples and nosh, swag bags, and an exciting panel about entrepreneurship by four female creative leaders.
Before the panel, guests enjoyed wine and Muse Mule cocktails (watermelon, vodka, basil, ginger beer, and a rock-candy garnish) while mingling and posing for the video booth.
Signs reading "She's My Muse," "Be a Muse," and "I'm a Muse" were among the popular posing props.
Next up, guests headed to the west end of Bloomingdale's for the highlight of the night: insights from businesswomen on how to succeed in life and career.
Emceed by Kirbie Johnson, trend producer at PopSugar, the four featured panelists were:
•Chelsea Sonksen: founder and EIC of Bossladies Magazine, a biannual print publication featuring creative entrepreneurs and women-run businesses.
•Molly Thompson: cofounder of Kind Campaign, a nonprofit that sheds light on girl-on-girl bullying through educational school programs and documentary screenings of Finding Kind.
•Nicole Neves: founder of My Sequin Life, a lifestyle blog featuring family life, food and fashion.
•Jordan Younger: founder of The Balanced Blonde
wellness blog, host of the podcast Soul on Fire, and author of Breaking Vegan and Soul on Fire Yoga.
Topics ran the gamut from overcoming hurdles to life mantras, their own personal muses, and insider tips on how to find and pursue your true passion. Here are some of our favorite quotes from the Modern Muse Meetup panelists:
•"It's wild simplicity ... What's the bare essence of what you want to create and what's the simplest and most direct path to get there and achieve that thing?" – Chelsea Sonsken
•"Work hard, play hard." – Nicole Neves
•"You are enough." – Jordan Younger
•"Be kind. It's cliche, but there's beauty in it — because you don't know what others are going through." – Molly Thompson
All panelists were styled from head-to-toe in chic Bloomingdale's fashions.
At the end of the night, guests were treated to Muse + POPSUGAR cookies and a "Must Have" gift box, personally curated by POPSUGAR's founder Lisa Sugar.
Goodies included a Framebridge giftcard, a Jack + Lucy pillow and blanket set, a Perpetual Shade sleep mask, Aquaphor ointment body spray, Quaker Overnight Oats, Lollia Life shower gel, Patchology eye gels, a Nature's Bakery brownie, and Keurig's The Original Donut Shop coffee.
